The Now by Phoebe Morris

This artwork is a self-portrait that reflects my past and future. I painted other works – ‘experimentals’ – that go with this artwork to create a set that further displays the deeper meaning. Each past experimental is a self-portrait of myself as a baby, and then toddler, all of them not completely ‘finished’. The final portrait of myself where I am fully grown or ‘finished’, portrays how I am in the present. My body faces the direction of the light, that is where I have come from – it is the past. The darkness behind me represents the unexplored future hence why my face is facing forward, as I am in the middle of the past and future.
