There’s more to every portrait than meets the eye.
A tour is a wonderful way to experience this year’s Brisbane Portrait Prize exhibition, offering fresh perspectives on the artworks and the stories behind them. Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply curious, explore the tour options below and find your way into the exhibition.
Volunteer Tours
Enjoy a free guided tour of the exhibition, led by one of our knowledgeable volunteers.
Discover the stories behind the portraits, take a closer look at the artists’ techniques and explore the works through fresh eyes. It’s a welcoming way to experience the exhibition, with opportunities to ask questions and share your impressions along the way.
Tours run throughout the exhibition at 10:30am on weekdays, and at 11:00am and 2:00pm on weekends.
No bookings are required – simply arrive a few minutes before the tour begins.
Curator Tours
Join us for a curator-led tour of the 2026 Brisbane Portrait Prize Finalists’ exhibition.
Every week, join a member of the Brisbane Portrait Prize’s artistic team for a guided tour offering a deeper look into the Finalists Exhibition.
Held within the gallery, these sessions unpack selected works, revealing the stories, relationships and themes that connect the exhibition.
School Groups
Bring portraiture to life with a school visit to the Brisbane Portrait Prize exhibition. Explore the stories behind the artworks and encourage students to look closely, ask questions and share their ideas about the people and perspectives on display.
Schools can choose a self-guided visit, with teachers leading students through the gallery at their own pace, or book a guided tour led by one of our knowledgeable volunteers.
We recommend booking ahead for either option to help us make the most of your school’s visit.
Private Tours
Looking to experience the Brisbane Portrait Prize Finalists Exhibition with your group? We offer small private tours for groups of 15 people or fewer during gallery opening hours (10am–5pm).
Tours are available between 20 September and 8 November and can be tailored for community groups, schools and not-for-profit organisations.
- Volunteer-led tours are offered free of charge.
- If you would prefer a tour led by a Brisbane Portrait Prize board member, curator or judge, a fee of $250 applies.
