This piece is of Karen’s friend Jannie G, eating lunch at their regular haunt, New Farm Deli.
When asked why she chose to paint her friend, she says, ‘Jannie is my most honest critic. Her encouragement and support have given me the confidence to grow both as a person and an artist.’
‘I have endeavoured to capture her strength and fierce intelligence.’

Karen is a self taught oil painter, focusing on portraiture and still life. Her main body of work explores distortion or manipulation of images to create tension and a different perspective.
