About the work
My Three Coconuts is a tribute to my three younger sisters; the people who inspire me, support me, and remind me of who I am. We grew up together in Brisbane, sharing moments full of laughter, love, and culture. This work is a visual thank you for the bond we share, and a celebration of our Pacific Islander heritage.
The flower crowns, or hei, represent our connection to Polynesian culture, while the korowai cloaks symbolise strength and pride in our Māori roots. These cultural elements are not only traditional, they’re personal. They carry the stories of our ancestors, and also the memories we’ve created together. This piece is about sisterhood, identity, and love. It’s a reminder of where we come from and the strength we carry because of it.
