Brightest memories by Esther Walter-Sewell

Brightest Memories is a portrait of my best friend Cynthia, someone who has never stopped inspiring me. From the moment we met, she’s made me feel seen and supported, always welcoming me with warmth, even though we come from different backgrounds. I wanted this portrait to honour not just her presence in my life, but the energy and kindness she radiates every day.

This was my first oil painting, and I chose to fill it with vibrant colours to represent her personality. Cynthia is incredibly talented, especially in her performance of the Chinese harp. There’s a certain softness she carries when she performs and that’s what I tried to capture here. Her dedication to her craft pushes me to pursue my own creative journey with the same level of commitment and care.
