This painting is based on a recent personal experience that left a lasting emotional impact.

One night at dinner, my mum shared serious news about her health. The moment was quiet, but everything shifted. I chose to portray my dad sitting at the table just after hearing it, his face caught between confusion and worry. The bowl in front of him, simple and ordinary, highlights how quickly normal life can be interrupted by something far heavier.

Using a limited palette inspired by film noir, I worked with deep shadows and stark lighting to express the tension in the room. What might look like a calm, domestic setting holds a deep sense of vulnerability. This portrait is about how fragile everyday moments can be.
