Floral Memories with Grandmother by Chloe Huang

This is a portrait of my grandmother, Hsiao Hsueh Li, who is a flower artist from Taiwan. Whenever she visits me in Brisbane, we spend time together collecting native Australian flowers. We use them to make floral art, which is something that brings us both joy.

I created this piece to show our special bond, and how we’ve found a way to connect through something we both love. Even though we come from different places, Brisbane has become part of our story: a place where we share moments, creativity, and nature. The colourful background of flowers represents not only her work, but also her warmth, happiness, and the way she always brings beauty into the world around her.
