About the artwork
Brisbane artist Martin Edge is a celebrated painter and proud ambassador for Autism Queensland. He has been a finalist in many major art prizes and his work is represented in state and national collections.
A former art teacher, Doherty has known Edge since he was one of her students at high school.
“I have watched over the years his career flourish, which he enjoys with a relaxed, easy and approachable persona, with this reflecting in his work. His artwork describes with joy his environment, with many vistas of Brisbane making up a good portion of his collection.”
This vibrant portrait shows Edge standing within his own wondrous world wearing his favourite orange t-shirt depicting one of his paintings, walking his dog along his local streets. Using a bright colour palette and a fluid, fresh approach, the artist captures Edge’s positivity and optimism.

About the artist
Bronwyn Doherty is a Brisbane based artist who worked as a high school art teacher at St James College for 25 years. She has been a finalist in multiple art awards and exhibited widely during her artistic career spanning 50 years. Doherty enjoys painting portraits and landscapes and more recently added ceramic sculpture to her practice.
