About the artwork
Brisbane based musician Elliot Gleave is a British singer and rapper best known by his stage name, Example. He has achieved global success in the electronic dance music scene with hit songs reaching number one in the UK and his albums topping the charts.
The artist wanted to capture a more personal side to Gleave, her neighbour, in this intimate and tender portrait holding his youngest son, Lucas.
“This amazingly talented singer and musician first impressed me not by his fame, but by his energy and grounded nature. Despite the chaotic world of international touring and performance, Elliot radiates a centeredness and carries his family at the core of everything he does… It’s a portrait of fatherhood, of quiet strength and of love.”
For the colourful and energetic background, the artist has drawn inspiration from Gleave’s own graffiti-style paintings, paying tribute to their shared journey as artists.
