Shades of Vermillion Fear by Kate Magendanz

My painting portrays my older brother, who has a keen interest in game design and incredible patience for my creative projects. He recently created a horror game, which inspired me to create this painting of him. After persuading him to be my model, waking him up late at night, and placing him in front of a red light when he was too tired to keep his eyes open, and telling him to look scared, he patiently participated. I am blessed to have a close-knit family who have lived, gone to school, and settled in Brisbane together, and I’m grateful for a brother who appreciated my excitement and the challenges of painting his portrait.
