Balloons for Nanna by Elizabeth Vardouniotis

My name is Elizabeth, and I am a 16-year-old artist based in Sydney, NSW. The sitter of my artwork is my grandmother, who has lived most of her life in Brisbane. Since I was small, my family has gone up to visit her whenever we can, taking time to help her around the house, enjoy the sun, and have some fish and chips by the beach. It has easily become one of my favourite places to be on this earth, and I feel the happiest there. The portrait is of my grandmother’s birthday, where we bought her a large bunch of balloons. Her smile brought out a contagious youthfulness that I wanted to capture.
