Damn girl ! by Lucia Martins

My artwork is a celebration of ‘sass’ and a bold statement of girl power. Depicting my friend Zahyna, I have worked from a 0.5 pic. This deliberate manipulation and oversizing of the head challenges the stereotype imagery so common among our age group. Following this, the forbidden McDonald’s fries, nuggets, and soft serve defy the diet-conscious 16-year-old preparing for her semi-formal. Both my friend and I have spent our childhood in the ‘Chermie’ precinct (Chermside Westfield), hanging out, window shopping, and just generally chilling; important girl business getting done right.
