Faeryface by Seanna Fitzpatrick

The purity and directness of a child’s perception often appears simple. I believe this simplicity is very powerful and allows the essence of experiences and emotions to be captured in a raw, honest way, allowing passions, like my childhood connection to fairies, to be so strong. At the same time, a child’s mind is deceptively complex, blending reality and fantasy. I chose to represent the elaborate, imaginative worlds that I once believed were my reality.

The simplicity and complexity of my childhood mind are displayed in this artwork. I chose my biggest childhood passion, of fairies, and used a limited colour palette to convey simplicity. However, as you look closer, there is a sense of growing complexity through the intricate details.
