A Quiet Ovation
About the artwork and sitter
Minette is an actress with a Bachelor in Fine Arts, Drama from QUT. She has performed at La Boite and Brisbane Powerhouse.
‘The artwork depicts Minette both as my daughter, vulnerable and open, seated in my studio, bathed in light. But also as the actress, dressed up in vibrant crimson velvet and aqua headscarf.’
Maleny is the town which gave Minette an opportunity to start performing in a professional capacity. ‘The chair and the copper pot are representative of the community of the Copper Coast.’
‘These communities have all applauded her early engagement in the performing arts and helped sustain the beautiful actor she is today – indicated by the petals on the “stage” floor. A quiet and very supportive ovation.’
