About the artwork and sitter

This portrait is a rich and luxurious work, where the sitter is front and centre, surrounded by beautiful objects in her home. Libby Lincoln oversees arts development and cultural growth for the City of Gold Coast and has curated, directed and managed arts projects in Brisbane.

“As my younger sister’s best friend, I have known Libby since childhood. My admiration for her includes her creative and philosophical approach to life, complemented by her quirky sense of humour. In her, I see a woman who knows her own mind.”

With its strong and direct gaze, the portrait shows a determination and confidence, at the same time, it invites the viewer to consider the open doors and windows in the background, and where they might lead.
