About the work
I am a visual and performance artist. I love the outrageous and thought provoking nature of art and theatre. I am passionate about the representation of the LGBTQIA+ community.
This is Will, he is the face of young Brisbane. He is queer, he is confident, and he is pushing gender norms back into the dark place from whence they came. He has an undeniable vibrance and luminosity, so I wanted to capture him in a moment of peace and stillness. Away from the voices of hate that have swarmed him, in the simple moment of bliss as he waits for his nail polish to dry. I find it hard to believe that he is my younger brother, he seems to have this wealth of knowledge that I don’t know if I will ever have. He is so in touch with himself it makes the ignorant afraid, and he is a beacon of hope for those who are struggling with their own identity. He is the utopian future of Brisbane.
