About the work

Fading Memories explores how even the most cherished moments can begin to blur with time.

This painting was inspired by a spontaneous photo taken on a family trip. My sister and I were walking behind our parents when she started taking playful pictures of me reaching toward them. I still remember her laughter and the smiles on our parents’ faces when we showed them.

While the feeling of that day remains strong, I’ve already started to forget the smaller details. Through distorted perspective, I wanted to show how the sharpness of a memory begins to fade, even if its meaning stays. The tiny figures of my parents resting in my hand symbolise both how close the memory feels, and how distant it’s becoming. Even as the image blurs, the emotions remain. This painting holds on to the joy, the love, and the connection I felt in that moment, so they won’t fade with everything else
