About the artist and artwork
Zheng Liu is a professional artist from Beijing who immigrated to Australia in 2016. He has participated in exhibitions in many Asian, European and South American countries.
The piece “Olive Branch” originated from the story of Noah’s Ark.
Speaking about the piece, Liu said ‘I chose this name as it resonates with the solitary soul while enduring spirit inside me. Originally from China, my whole family immigrated to Australia in 2016, and embarked on a journey in this new world since then. The initial years witnessed ebbs and flows, but gradually, we managed to settle and integrate into the new environment and enjoy life with contentment and gratitude. Last year, Panda, an adorable puppy joined our family.’
In this piece of art, Panda carried an olive branch in his mouth, symbolising a new world and hope. Liu’s posture demonstrated a sense of relaxation, representing the freedom and ease that define his current state of life.
“My posture demonstrated a sense of relaxation, representing the freedom and ease that define my current state of life."
