About the work
My dad describes parenthood as a role he was thrust into, never trained for, and changes daily. He wears many hats in our family including, handyman, ATM to teenage girls, mentor, cook and taxi, most of which he feels out of his depth fulfilling. He loves to try on hats and says they never fit, much like his roles as a parent, which he says contributed to his many wrinkles (that I may have over exaggerated for my own comic relief). My artwork reflects the joy of parenting and the challenges of wearing hats you don’t feel quite fit but love it anyway.
