About the work
My father, Phillip Keith, arrived from England 20 years ago, seeking new employment and a fresh adventure. Largely naïve about Australia he fell in love with laid back, laconic Queensland. This artwork encapsulates his devotion to Brisbane and all things Qld. The nomadic chicken is metaphor of his journey and the exquisite freedom of relaxed living. My artwork is executed in monotone grey tones because I didn’t want the viewer to be distracted by colour and miss the compositional focus of my dad’s legs on the table, patting the chicken.
