About the artist

Born and raised in Brisbane, currently based on the Gold Coast and managed by Aspire Gallery in Paddington, Nick Kohler is a self-taught painter specialising in oils.  Primarily focusing on portraits, Kohler is interested in capturing the true identity of a subject through a mix of realism and deconstruction techniques. A lifelong fascination with how people interact with their surroundings and each other strongly influences both the process and look of his work. As well as private commission work, he has been a finalist in Aspire Gallery’s Focus show and was the winner of the 2017 Neumann Dust Temple Portrait Prize.

About the sitter

After growing up in Brisbane, Jamie Dunn has been a prominent media figure, comedian and voice artist for decades.  After a career in music, Jamie introduced Australia to Agro on children’s television programs Wombat and Agro’s Cartoon Connection. He joined radio in Brisbane in 1990 and was an original member of B105’s Morning Crew. It was here that he helped to raise money to purchase vital equipment for the Royal Children’s Hospital in the station’s annual Christmas appeals. The success and legacy of these appeals is still evident in many patients stories today. Jamie has also worked on other radio stations across the Southeast including Zinc 96, 4BC, Triple M and is currently a member of Brisbane’s 98.9 FM’s breakfast show.
