About the artist
Stuart Mattress writes of his work: “With a background in design, photography and fine arts, many of my works pursue the theme of the everyday working class. Inspired by the working-class, I want to create a narrative and memorialise in time, the character of my subject. Most importantly, the experience of portrait painting for me is about the connection with the subject and producing an emotional response that reveals itself to the viewer.”

Caught in a rare moment of reflection during our sitting, the usually animated Sam Hussey, founder and CEO of local-grown VR/AR company, Lightweave, and recent recipient of Lord Mayors Young Business Person of the Year Award, contemplates the sheer enormity of running a successful and innovative Brisbane tech company.
