Finalists Exhibition

A new home at State Library of Queensland

After five years of telling Brisbane stories and celebrating artists at Brisbane Powerhouse, the Brisbane Portrait Prize is moving to the home of storytelling in Queensland, State Library of Queensland.

This decision comes as the Brisbane Portrait Prize continues to grow, both in size and in status.

Located in the premier arts precinct in Brisbane, the finalists exhibition will be held in the slq Gallery, which will showcase the artworks beautifully, in a welcoming and approachable environment.

State Library collects and preserves Queensland’s cultural heritage, and we are excited to be collaborating with them to continue telling the stories of Brisbane artists and their sitters.

Not only will this move allow us to provide a better art experience for the public, but it also highlights the growth of the Brisbane Portrait Prize and its evolution as a portraiture competition.

An extended finalists exhibition.

In addition to the new location, for the first time since its inception, the 2024 Brisbane Portrait Prize will run an extended finalists exhibition, running from Saturday 3rd August until Sunday 10th November.

This extended exhibition will allow for more people to experience the wonderful portraits on display as well as a number of other opportunities to engage with the artists and their sitters.

We trust you are as excited as us about this announcement. Should you have any questions, please do drop us a line on info@brisbaneportraitprize.org.
